CATALOGUE NOTES
a) A Difficult Craft in Exile (C'est un dur métier que l'éxil) Turkish French A. Dino drawings İKSV, 2008). Nâzım Hikmet's second book published in France (1961) bore the title of one of his poems: C'est un dur métier que l'éxil (A Difficult Craft in Exile). All of the poems in this book, published by EFR, were selected by the poet himself and helped Charles Dobzynsky with the translations. And of course, the book was illustrated by his dear comrade and friend Abidin Dino. Approximately sixty years after the publication of this book, the poems in this book were published in Turkish face to face and with the drawings of A. Dino from the original edition by İKSV and İstanbul Kültür University. This book, edited by Ferit Edgü, with cover and page layout by Naz Orbay, printed in 750 copies and all numbered, has been considered the best of Nâzım Hikmet's books published worldwide to date.
b) The book is accompanied by a poster featuring Abidin Dino's "Walking Nâzım" drawing. Silkscreen print, 55 x 43 cm. Signed.

YASAR KEMAL
Lot 002
CATALOGUE NOTES
The relationship between Yaşar Kemal and Fethi Naci is one that is rarely encountered between a novelist and a critic. In addition to friendship, we see that the critic has followed the great novelist step by step from his first works (for example, Teneke) and has written about each of his novels (not always in praise). If Fethi Naci had a novelist, it is undoubtedly Yaşar Kemal. Of Yaşar Kemal, the one Fethi Naci wrote about the most,

Fethi Naci and Ferit Edgü met at a very young age (when Naci was 27 and Edgü was 18) and their friendship lasted until Fethi Naci's death. This friendship was not a writer-critic friendship, but a friendship shared over books, alcohol, Bodrum, and the blue sea. Fethi Naci wrote many articles about Ferit Edgü and his writings. The first article Ferit Edgü wrote for Fethi Naci (I See Fethi Naci) was written for the book In Honor of Fethi Naci, published by Oğlak Publications under the editorship of Semih Gümüş on the occasion of the famous critic's seventieth birthday (1997).

Lot 012

We present the signed books and handwritten poems, stories and texts of seven story writers and one poet, four of whom are no longer with us, from the “50 Generation”, half a century has passed since they published their first books, so as not to separate them from each other.

FİKRET MUALLA
Lot 035
CATALOGUE NOTES
a) Abidin Dino / Photographs: Ara Güler for Seeing Eyes Fikret Muallâ Cem Publishing House, 1980.
b) 11 postcards written to the Dinos The friendship between Abidin Dino and Fikret Muallâ began at a very early age. Abidin helped Fikret Muallâ, who was eight years older than him, whenever he got into trouble, both in Turkey and France, and saved this incorrigible anarchist bohemian from the hands of the police, and could be said to be his only savior in mental hospitals. Fikret Muallâ sheds such light on his friend’s life and art in his book For the Seeing Eye, which he wrote after Fikret Muallâ’s death. This book, which has no precedent in our country’s art literature and was printed under the limited conditions of the period in which it was published, was later reprinted. Here, the first edition of the book is accompanied by 11 postcards that Fikret Muallâ wrote to the Dinos from the south of France between 1959 and 1962. (See Fikret Mualla: Letters to Friends, YKY 1995, pp. 63 - 82).
