BEDRI RAHMI EYUBOGLU 1911-1975
Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu is one of the leading artists in the Turkish painting and literature world. He developed an original style by blending traditional Anatolian culture with modern art throughout his artistic life. Eyüboğlu, who took painting lessons from Zeki Kocamemi during his middle school years in Trabzon, came to Istanbul in 1927 and worked in the studios of Nazmi Ziya and İbrahim Çallı at the Istanbul Fine Arts Academy. He later went to Paris and studied in the studio of André Lhote.
Constantly seeking innovation in his art, Eyüboğlu produced works using various techniques such as painting, mosaic, ceramic, mural, calligraphy, engraving and serigraphy. He served as a professor at the Academy until his death in 1975 and trained many students. Eyüboğlu's art reflects the combination of modern art with Anatolian folk motifs and cultural elements.
